Uses: Respiratory infection, urinary infection, skin, bone, and joint infection, intra-abdominal infection, bacteria in the blood, post-operative infection, burn related infection, meningitis
Comment: This antibiotic is used to treat severe infections in the areas described above. When the intramuscular and intravenous preparations are used, blood levels of this antibiotic are checked to assure adequate levels and minimize toxicity(side effects). The inhaled form of the drug is used for respiratory infections in patients with cystic fibrosis. The eye drop solution is used to treat bacterial infections of the eye.
