How given: by mouth (PO), intravenous (IV), topical solution
Uses: Treatment of anaerobic infections (skin and soft tissue, brain, respiratory, bones, joints, intra-abdominal, gynecologic, endocarditis, bacteria in the blood), trichomoniasis, amebiasis, antibiotic-associated pseudomembranous colitis. Treatment of H. pylori-associated gastritis/duodenal ulcer.
Comment: This antibiotic is used to treat moderate to severe conditions as described above. The topical solution may be used in the treatment of acne.
