Generic Name: Midazolam
Pronunciation: my-DAY-zoe-lam
Product Name: Versed
Marketer: Roche Pharmaceuticals
Category: Sedative & Amnesic Drugs
How given: intravenous (IV), intramuscular (IM) (rarely)
Uses: Relief of anxiety, ICU sedation, conscious sedation for ICU procedures, pre-operative sedation
Comment: Midazolam is relatively short acting. Because of this it is a useful drug for many ICU procedures such as endoscopy or central venous catheter insertion.
