Product Name: Valium

Category: Sedative & Amnesic Drugs
How given: by mouth (PO), intravenous (IV), intramuscular (IM) (rarely)
Uses: Relief of anxiety, ICU sedation, conscious sedation for ICU procedures, pre-operative sedation, alcohol withdrawal syndrome, relief of acute musculoskeletal pain, treatment of seizures, chemotherapy induced nausea and vomiting
Comment: Diazepam may be given as a tablet by mouth, or by intravenous or intramuscular injection. It is longer acting that midazolam.
